Flow Control
Smart Flow Control is a feature used to avoid congestion by optimizing user traffic. The working principle is shown as below: when the total user traffic is low than the maximum WAN bandwidth, the rate limit policy will not be applied, and every user will get the required bandwidth; However, when the total user traffic exceeds the maximum WAN bandwidth, the user-based rate limit will take effect. The total WAN bandwidth will be equally allocated to every user. For example, If there are 10 users in the network, the total user traffic is 200Mbps, and WAN bandwidth is 100Mbps, every user will get 10Mbps bandwidth after enabling the smart flow control feature.
To set up flow control, first, you need to log in to Router's portal. If you are not sure how to do it then please see the default IP login for Reyee gateways & routers.
- Set the WAN bandwidth first. Go to Advanced->Smart Flow control and enable
set the WAN bandwidth Up and Down limit, save. -
The bandwidth mode can be independent or shared. The difference between the two is as follows:
-
Sharing mode: IP address/range share the bandwidth configured below
-
Independent mode: each user in the IP address/range can use the bandwidth value configured below
-
CIR means the min, PIR means the max
